While the Alliance fleet mounts a major campaign against a deadly warlord, Ysanne Isard has seized control of Thyferra, intending to use its precious supply of bacta to destabilize and destroy the New Republic. It falls to Rogue Squadron - undermanned, deprived of Alliance support and even weapons - to oppose Isard's dangerous designs, defeat her powerful complement of Star Destroyers, and free Thyferra from her iron rule. But when Isard discovers the Squadron's secret base, its ragtag group of pilots must scramble for survival in a winner-take-all battle against Isard's overwhelming and seemingly superior force.

Still near and dear to my heart, with crackling action sequences.

But I'm starting to notice that Stackpole's dialog is quite weak. In fact, I'd be quite hard pressed to characterize any character's voice; they all essentially sound the same. And every chapter ends with a pithy one-liner about how awesome the current pov character's faction is, which is inspiring the first dozen times but gets old real quick (especially when it comes across as a non sequitur).

Still, the real magic trick here is making us able to visualize a starfighter battle in our minds using simple words on a page. There are no rules for this sort of thing, and Stackpole is the master.
