Still near and dear to my heart, with crackling action sequences.

But I'm starting to notice that Stackpole's dialog is quite weak. In fact, I'd be quite hard pressed to characterize any character's voice; they all essentially sound the same. And every chapter ends with a pithy one-liner about how awesome the current pov character's faction is, which is inspiring the first dozen times but gets old real quick (especially when it comes across as a non sequitur).

Still, the real magic trick here is making us able to visualize a starfighter battle in our minds using simple words on a page. There are no rules for this sort of thing, and Stackpole is the master.
