I can't say I enjoyed this much, mostly because my mind kept turning back to, "This book is set in 1987-ish. Who was this caring, compassionate, and understanding in the 1980s?" I'm trying to think of a single family who would have been as chill and supportive as these two families, and I'm coming up with nothing, and I don't live in Texas (not a state known for tolerance). ¯_(ツ)_/¯
