I started slowly on this because I was afraid it would be an Adrian Mole ripoff (teen obsession is highly educated/upper class, parents randy and divorced, sad attempt at bedroom redecoration for starters). Payne does have a knack with pithy, belly laugh sentences. The book is voluminous but brisk reading. I hope the film adaptation comes out this year as promised.
