Fantastic! Leaving aside the inexplicable nature of the protagonists' powers, this is some of the most cogent story telling that I've seen in a comic. To the extent that I can distinguish good art from bad, I'd say it was pretty solid in that department as well. The story starts in media res, which is also a nice touch; not sure I've seen that done this particular way in comics before. Other portions are pretty novel as well, such as having the present day characters visibly narrating from the flashbacks.

I have to say, my favorite parts of this series are all the extraneous background details. I don't think I've ever spent so much time looking at a single comic book page! Every other scene or so is chock full of hilarious and imaginative gags. Are those titty mittens on that table there? Yes...yes, I think they are!
