finished reading Time Bender by Megan Fatheree (Johnny Smythe, #1)

Megan Fatheree: Time Bender (2014, Lulu Press, Inc.)

Elain Fairchild Elle to her friends never asked for the trouble that finds her. And …

This could have been a Doctor Who episode. And a good one at that, too.

Very entertaining read. Short and easy, thrilling with the right amount of suspense .. and a cliffhanger that made be purchase the second book of the series.

If you like Doctor Who you will love this little book.

And there's the downside of it. It is too close to the the Doc.

You have a trivial name for a time traveller with a lunatic behaviour. You've got a "weird tech thingy" which he uses all the time. You've got a time machine. And there are the bad guys.

As I said, it would have made a great episode and golden thread for an entire season of Doc Who.

However, I'm beginning to read the 2nd book today. Because I love it.

reviewed Colour of Milk by Nell Leyshon

Nell Leyshon: Colour of Milk (Paperback, 2013, Penguin Books, Limited)

The Colour of Milk is the new novel by Orange longlisted author and playwright Nell …

The saddest book I ever read

Content warning Talking about the outcome of the story.

Shelley Parker-Chan: He Who Drowned the World (Pan Macmillan)

What would you give to win the world?

Zhu Yuanzhang, the Radiant King, is …

Part two has been slow

Loved reading it. Compared to the first "She who became the Sun" this one was not as compelling. In parts it was just too long and twisted.

Nonetheless I think this is a very good one to dive into the world of Mandates, Desires, queer Love, Loyalty and in the end creating something bigger than oneself.

Shelley Parker-Chan: She Who Became the Sun (Paperback, 2021, Mantle)

An absorbing historical fantasy, She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan reimagines the rise …

A wonderful book. My first book diving into the Asian world of history, fiction and legends.

Thrilling and extraordinary characters.

The author weaves a story which keeps you in its grip.

Can’t wait to start the sequel „He who drowned the world“.

Sehr empfehlenswertes Zeitdokument.

Ken Lussey: Thicker than Water (EBook, Arachnid Press Ltd)

Thicker Than Water is a compelling murder mystery set in northern Scotland.

Callum Anderson …

Not sure what to say. It was too perfect. Only at one point the story got a bit thrilling. Everything else fit simply too perfect. It’s an easy read, though.

People have been a tad too kind, too supportive, too boring. There was never a moment when I couldn’t put away the book at any given time.

A bit disturbing was the name dropping of some brands. Too often for my taste. At one point I was wondering if the author gets a commission for it.

The end of the book left me a bit puzzled. What? It felt like the author lost motivation and wanted to book to end rather quickly. It was a bit disappointing.

The end did come as a surprise but not in a good way. Maybe I kinda expected sth. different. When reading the title I thought the culprit might be …
