I very much enjoyed the story. Lo created an engaging world, moral complexity and compelling characters.
It's really about 3.5 stars because I found the writing style difficult. (I rounded up because good queer representation in fantasy isn't common.) Every few paragraphs, the reader finds themselves inside the head of a different character. It was a little disorienting. I would prefer a less ominscient narrator.
