Review of 'Half a crown' on 'Goodreads'

2 stars

The beginning of the book was interesting enough, though not nearly as compelling as the first two. The end is downright unbelievable and unsatisfying.

The idea that 20ish years of fascism fell because a young girl got a chance to tell the queen that fascism was unfair and no longer popular and the queen got a bit of evidence that perhaps the prime minister came to power unfairly is totally unbelievable. The author's desire to tie everything up in a neat bow seems to overcome any sense of how the world works, which is disappointing given how strong the first two books were.
