Pride and Prejudice is an 1813 novel of manners by Jane Austen. The novel follows the character development of Elizabeth Bennet, the dynamic protagonist of the book who learns about the repercussions of hasty judgments and comes to appreciate the difference between superficial goodness and actual goodness. a delightful glimpse into an era long gone...

short plot description: centre of the book is the family Bennet, consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet and their five unmarried daughters. The setting is early 19th century England and we follow the chain of events through the eyes of Elizatbeth Bennet (the second eldest daughter)which is started when a young, handsome, rich and unmarried young man moves into the neighbourhood.......

A wonderful read, a light, funny and romantic comedy which even after almost 200 years still has some remarkable insights into the relationship between men and women and the pressures of society. Some parts reminded me of the "screwball comedy" movies of the 1930s.

Minor point: language and grammar felt strange in places which is only to be expected in a novel that old.

My advice: for everyone who likes romantic novels
